As experience dictated, the living quarters of this vehicle was refined many times to cater for changing conditions but never forgetting the fact, that it had to remain an overland vehicle suited for less than ideal conditions. It's no luxury motorhome but in contrast to such a vehicle, RR2 will park, camp and go almost anywhere you want to take it, economically and reliably. It certainly served all our needs with the wilderness providing the rest. In many countries, one tends to forget about campgrounds as they are few and far between and trying to reach them, places an undesirable burden on one's day. Never the less, if there was one thing while traveling that we really avoided, it was a campground; for the most part, they represented almost everything that we were trying to escape from.
For us, it is the same today! Come summer, we use old forestry roads to tow our light trailer into the bush so as to "wildcamp" on our own by a mountain stream, and appreciate once again, one of "Mother Nature's" greatest offerings..............tranquility! Thank you Canada for that, avoiding humanity is a much harder task when in the U.S.A.

We made many additions to RR2's interior over the years some for security purposes, some for keeping a watchful eye on its performance, some for entertainment and others to alleviate problems we encountered when settling down for the night. In our book, much of what now follows will be referred to at one time or another like the "Audio Out" jack under the instrument panel(see below) for example which was used to broadcast recorded wildlife calls that brought animals to us at waterholes..............lions included.

There are many stories attached to the gradual outfitting of RR2, one of them being the toilet mentioned earlier, we never used it for that purpose but its very existence shut up anyone that ever asked if we had one! However, it did make a good washing machine on rough road days and there were plenty of those. Throw the clothes in, half fill with water, add powder, clip on the lid seal and at the end of the day.......voila! Aaaaah, those were the days!
Well that's it for the detailed description of out mini home on wheels; by now you should be much more familiar with RR2 and its oddities. If you haven't already done so, check out "Guess Where" to see something of RR2 in action all around the world; its an easy way to travel and a heck of a lot safer sitting at your computer than it was for us in reality at times.
Enjoy,
The Overlanders.
